Summary

On August 1, 1956, a civilian observer in Hosperus, Colorado reported seeing one yellowish funnel-shaped object. The observation was ground-visual. The object appeared stationary at first, then moved heading southeast and ascending. The witness observed the object for one hour and 25 minutes before it disappeared by ascending. No photos were taken. The Air Force concluded the sighting was probably caused by a balloon. Evaluation: Probably Balloon.

One yellowish funnel-shaped object, the size of a pencil point in arm's length. Object was initially sighted directly overhead. At first, object appeared stationary & then began heading southeast and ascending. Obj was viewed for 1 hour & 25 minutes. Disappeared by ascending.

This report was received in Salt Lake City, Utah. Although details do not correlate exactly to course of object, size, shape, color, duration and aspect indicate sighting was probably caused by a balloon. Evaluation: Probably Balloon.
