Summary
On January 23, 1953, at 11:45 p.m., a military observer near Tachikawa Air Base in Honshu, Japan, reported an unidentified flying object. One object was observed for two seconds. The object appeared as a round shape colored red to blue-green to white. It fell downward at a 70-degree angle. The observation was brief and the sky was darkening, though the western sky was lit by the setting sun. The object's size, altitude, and distance could not be verified. The Air Force concluded the report was from a meteor, though the description was very sketchy.
