Summary

On August 7, 1955, near noon local time, a civilian in Hobart, Indiana reported one silver-colored ball high in the air. The Air Force recorded the report under Project 10073, its official record for unidentified flying object reports.

The object was viewed through binoculars. It moved around in the field of view in a crisscross motion, going around and around. The report compared its motion to a kite or another object on a string.

The Air Force noted the report was made about ten years after the sighting and that key details, such as duration and how the object disappeared, were missing. Officials said the description was similar to a balloon but carried the case as insufficient data for evaluation.
