Project Blue Book Case File
HIGHLAND PARK, CAL, August 1952August 1952
Summary
On August 3, 1952, at 1945 (7:45 p.m.) Pacific time, a Los Angeles Police Department officer reported a very bright object over Highland Park, California. He watched it for several minutes.
The officer used a protractor to plot the object. He estimated it was 34 to 38 degrees above the horizon at an angle of about 175 degrees. He reported that the object broke into six or eight pieces, which appeared to descend toward the ground at high speed.
An observer questionnaire in the file records the sky as clear with no wind. The object was said to change direction, speed, size, brightness, and to break into parts. The witness reported a blue colored light. The file marks the evaluation as tentative and does not give a final conclusion.
