Summary

On May 13, 1953, about 2350 (11:50 p.m.), people saw a light in the sky over Helsinki, Finland, and Stockholm, Sweden. The report came from a newspaper article.

A Helsinki paper described a shuttle-shaped greenish white light. It passed horizontally through the city in a few seconds. Over a nearby airfield it crossed the field in about four seconds. A similar light was seen in Stockholm at about the same time.

Another account said a witness saw a greenish light moving very fast through the sky. It was seen to the west of an airport tower, traveling in an estimated direction of about 200 degrees. It was in view for a few seconds and then seemed to vanish behind clouds. The Air Force reviewed the report and listed the case as astronomical, a probable meteor.
