Summary
On a February afternoon in 1953, a civilian near Hamptonville, North Carolina, reported seeing an unidentified object in the sky. The observer reported that the object was visible for a limited time and appeared to be moving at a high altitude at a high rate of speed. The sighting occurred during daylight hours and was observed with the naked eye.
The Air Force received the report and sent a technical questionnaire to the witness to gather detailed information about the sighting. The witness completed the form and provided additional written description and sketches.
