Summary
On September 17, 1954, a man named Hall found a cigar shaped object on a golf course in Hamlet, Indiana. The object was about 5 feet long and 6 inches in diameter. It was made of aluminum and steel and held radio equipment.
The finder turned the object over to a nearby ordnance depot, and it later came into the hands of Air Force investigators. An investigation by the Air Force Office of Special Investigations and the FBI followed.
The Air Force record listed the conclusion as a hoax. The investigation found that a local person had made the object and placed it on the golf course. The case was filed under Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports.
