Project Blue Book Case File
Haifa, Jerusalem, January 1953January 1953
Summary
On January 4, 1953, four men in the Haifa area saw an object in the sky. They were returning from work in the Haifa Bay area toward town. The time was about 4:12 p.m. The account came from a local newspaper, the Jerusalem Post, dated January 5, 1953.
The men described a cigar-shaped object that emerged from clouds over a quarry along the Haifa to Nazareth road. They said it was fairly low and moved at great speed. Three bright lights, one at each end and one in the center, made the object clearly visible.
The object disappeared in about 80 to 90 seconds after it changed direction. The report noted that two other objects were reported by several people over Mount Carmel the prior week.
The Air Force called this a preliminary report and requested more information. The record card lists the conclusion as insufficient data for evaluation.
