Summary
# Summary
In March 1954, a woman in Weatherly, Pennsylvania observed an unusual bright object in the sky. She described it as resembling a blimp or star, illuminated and brilliant in appearance. The object first appeared stationary, then slowly moved away from her position. The Air Force investigation that followed considered weather balloons launched from Columbia, Missouri as a likely explanation. The file notes that the motion of the object was consistent with wind patterns recorded at the time.
A second sighting from the same general period involved multiple witnesses who reported seeing four silvery discs flying in formation. According to these accounts, three of the objects flew together while a fourth circled to the rear of an airliner. The witnesses described the discs as having dome-like structures on their upper portions. The objects were said to circle and make passes from left to right, then pull up in steep vertical climbs. Again, the investigation considered weather balloons as a probable explanation.
The Air Force's official evaluation of these sightings is listed as "unknown" in the case file. No photographs or other physical evidence was found to support the reports. The file indicates that the investigation included inquiries to local radar stations and the National Weather Bureau, as well as analysis of wind patterns and weather conditions at the time.
