Gulf of Mexico, May 1963May 1963

Insufficient Data

Summary

On May 26, 1963, the crew of the tug Sandra reported an object over the Gulf of Mexico near 29 degrees 14 minutes North, 93 degrees 25 minutes West. The witnesses were Coast Guard or merchant crew. The report came in as a MERINT message and was recorded in Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports.

The master of the tug said the object flew at a very high rate of speed in a northeasterly direction toward the coast. It had a bluish white light around it. The object followed a very erratic course.

The report did not give the duration or how the object disappeared. The Air Force noted the data was incomplete for analysis. The case was logged as insufficient data, and it was suspected to be a duplicate of another report from the same day.
