Summary

In November 1952, residents of Guanarito, Venezuela, witnessed a series of mysterious aircraft passing overhead in broad daylight. According to press reports, the whole town watched for several seconds as two unusual aircraft flew northward at very high speed. Two smaller aircraft then joined the group, and all four disappeared into the clouds. The sighting occurred during morning hours.

The Venezuelan Air Force investigated and confirmed to the U.S. Air Force that they had jet aircraft in the area at that time. A U.S. Air Attaché in Caracas, Venezuela, filed an official Air Intelligence Information Report on the incident. The report notes that this was the first time the Venezuelan press had reported flying saucers since an earlier sighting in August 1952, when military officials had likewise attributed that sighting to jet aircraft already known to be operating in the region.

The Air Force concluded that the objects were unknown, meaning the evidence did not allow investigators to identify them with confidence. The complete case file consists of 24 pages held by the National Archives.
