Summary
On April 20, 1952, at Griffith Park in Los Angeles, California, a civilian took photographs that appeared to show objects in the sky. The pictures were taken about an hour and a half after dark.
The man photographed the Hollywood lights at night, in a direction roughly west southwest of the Griffith Park planetarium. He took three pictures about 15 to 20 seconds apart. Only one of them showed spots or objects that did not appear in the other two. None of the people present, including the man's wife and a visiting couple, remembered seeing anything in the sky.
The photos were taken on a Kodak Model 35 camera, with an exposure of 1/25th of a second at a lens opening of 5.6. The Air Force concluded the objects were almost certainly due to water spots on the negative, which it noted are very common on photographs.
