Summary

On August 31, 1960, a civilian woman reported a flying object to the Navy at Glenview, Illinois, at about 11:30 p.m. local time. The object was cylindrical and illuminated. It was described as uncontrolled, with a red flashing light and an extremely loud sound, but no smoke or exhaust. It was at about 1,000 feet altitude and traveling to the northeast. No further contact was made about the report. The Air Force concluded there was insufficient information for an evaluation.
