Project Blue Book Case File
Ganado Mission, ArizonaFebruary 1949
Summary
On the evening of February 14, 1949, a civilian couple near Ganado Mission, Arizona reported a single white light with an orange tinge in the sky. They saw it at about 1840 (6:40 p.m.). The light appeared to fall, curving slightly toward the east. The sighting was recorded on a U.S. Air Force incident card, part of the military's early effort to track reports of unidentified flying objects. The Air Force noted there was not enough information to reach a firm conclusion. An investigator wrote that the object was probably a meteor, but added that the witnesses did not report how long it stayed in view, so the case was marked as having insufficient data.
