Summary

A woman living near Fort Seneca, Ohio, reported seeing unusual objects in the night sky on multiple occasions between sunset and midnight throughout October 1960. She described the objects as bright, moving erratically, and appearing larger and brighter than planets. The objects reportedly displayed rapid movements and sudden directional changes.

An Air Force officer interviewed the witness at her home. During the conversation, the officer noted that the witness consistently used vague descriptive terms such as "big," "fast," and "huge" when discussing what she had seen. The witness could not provide specific details about the objects' characteristics or behavior. The officer suggested that a mirage might explain some of the sightings, though the witness rejected this explanation.

The Air Force's analysis concluded that without concrete observational data, it was impossible to determine the exact light sources responsible for the reported sightings. The case file indicates the investigator suspected the woman may have been observing the planet Venus, which can appear remarkably bright and seem to move when atmospheric conditions cause optical illusions. However, insufficient factual information prevented a definitive conclusion about what the witness actually saw.

The full case file, comprising 36 pages, is reproduced below as held by the National Archives.
