Summary

On April 29, 1957, around 8:20 p.m. local time, a civilian salesman in Ferndale, Michigan reported seeing objects in the sky. The night was described as very clear. The witness was considered reliable.

The man saw four diamond shaped objects. Each was about twice the size of the largest star and was colored red. The four objects together formed a diamond pattern. They flew toward the northwest for a few minutes. Their speed was said to be about that of a falling star.

The report notes the local airfield said no aircraft were airborne at that time. An Army post and ground observers also reported seeing nothing. The Air Force record (Project 10073, its official file for unidentified flying object reports) lists the case as probably aircraft.
