Summary

On February 9, 1953, at about 12:45 a.m., a control tower operator saw an object west of Dobbins Air Force Base, Georgia. The witness was a tower operator at the base.

The object was round and shaped like a star, with an orange glow. It had no visible trail. It moved slowly and also appeared to stand still for a few minutes. The object made no sound and held a generally straight course, though it may have turned while fading out. The sighting lasted about 5 to 12 minutes.

The object was west of the tower and traveled due west. Weather was clear with 15 miles visibility. The record notes that the planet Jupiter was at about 290 degrees azimuth, near where the object was seen.

The record card lists the conclusion as astronomical, citing Jupiter.
