Summary
On September 24, 1957, at about 2130 (Greenwich time) in Dayton, Ohio, a civilian saw one object shaped like a cylinder that was wide at the top and tapered down. It was silver and about the size of a dime held at arm's length. The object moved toward the sun and was in sight for about fifteen minutes. The Air Force record card for Project 10073, its official record for unidentified flying object reports, lists the conclusion as probably balloon. The card agrees with the reporting officer that the sighting was probably caused by a balloon. It notes there was no report in the file.
