Insufficient Data

Summary

On the evening of November 27, 1956, a witness in Dayton, Ohio reported seeing an unusual object in the sky at 8:30 p.m. The object appeared round and larger than the moon, with an orange color and intermittent red flames shooting from it. The witness described it as moving fast and looking like a piece of burning paper falling through the air. The object eventually exploded and seemed to drop toward the ground.

The Air Force investigation noted that the duration of the sighting was not reported by the witness. Investigators considered the possibility that the object was a meteor, which would explain the bright color, the flames, and the apparent explosion. The case file indicates insufficient data was available to reach a definitive evaluation.
