Project Blue Book Case File
Dayton, OhioJune 1959
Summary
On June 24, 1959, an observer in Dayton, Ohio reported seeing a very bright, white colored object moving rapidly across the sky from south to northeast. According to the witness, the object traveled faster than any jet aircraft he had ever seen and flew at a very high altitude.
The Air Force investigator who reviewed the case noted in the file that the analyst considered the witness unreliable and did not attempt further analysis. No additional witnesses are mentioned in the available records, and the case file contains substantial OCR degradation on later pages that limits what can be clearly determined about any follow-up investigation.
The Air Force's evaluation on the case card lists "unknown" as its conclusion, meaning the sighting was not identified as any known aircraft, balloon, astronomical phenomenon, or other explainable object. However, no detailed reasoning for this classification appears in the legible portions of the file.
The full case file is reproduced below as held by the National Archives, comprising ten scanned pages.
