Project Blue Book Case File
Dayton, OhioFebruary 1960
Summary
On February 20, 1960, a resident of Dayton, Ohio reported seeing a very bright pinkish white object in the sky. The object was about the size of a basketball and disappeared behind clouds. The sighting lasted approximately 10 seconds, and the witness observed the object moving from north to south.
The Air Force investigator who reviewed the case noted that it was a single-witness sighting and that the color and brief duration of the observation suggested a meteor. The file indicates there was insufficient information for a complete evaluation, though the official conclusion recorded on the case card was "Probably Balloon."
