Summary
On April 18, 1952, in Corner Brook, Newfoundland, a civilian reported an unidentified flying object. The man, who worked at a local newspaper, was awakened about 0400 (4:00 a.m.) by a barking dog and went to his window.
He saw one bright object in a northerly direction. It was round, appeared 3 to 4 inches across at arm's length, and was a yellowish gold color like hot metal. He estimated its altitude at about 2,000 feet and its speed at roughly 500 miles per hour. The object seemed to come toward the town's main street, then made a sharp turn of about 135 degrees and moved off to the northeast in a straight line.
The object made no sound. A short trail or tail, the same color as the object or darker, was seen only during the turn. The sighting lasted about one minute. The weather was clear and calm at 30 degrees. No conclusion box was marked on the record card.
