Condamine, Queensland, Australia, February 1951February 1951
Summary
On February 2, 1951, near Condamine, Queensland, Australia, a civilian man reported eight objects in the sky at about 1500 (3:00 p.m.). He was repairing a belt on his boring plant at Woodlands Station when he heard a high-pitched swishing noise. Looking up, he saw the objects flying overhead at a steep angle and very high speed.
The man, a former wartime air gunner, said the objects were shaped like V-2 rockets, about 40 feet long, with a highly polished metal surface that shone in the sun. He estimated their height at about 10,000 feet and saw a vapor trail extending back about 40 feet. They flew in formation and passed out of sight quickly. His wife also saw them but could not describe their shape.
The report was an extract from a file kept by Royal Australian Air Force Intelligence and shared with the U.S. Air Attache in Australia. The document lists the conclusion as aircraft.
