Project Blue Book Case File
CHICAGO ILL, July 1952July 1952
Summary
On July 22, 1952, a civilian couple in Chicago reported seeing four gray, round objects the size of a silver dollar held at arm's length. The witnesses said the objects traveled at a fast, constant speed in formation. The sighting lasted about two minutes. One witness, Larry Sebor, was a former T-Sergeant in the 12th Air Force and claimed to be familiar with aircraft. His wife also observed the objects. The weather was clear with fifteen miles of visibility. The Air Force found no known activity or condition that could explain the sighting and noted there was no physical evidence.
The file also contains reports of separate sightings. In early July 1952, observers near The Dalles, Oregon saw a large object described as fuzzy and ghostly that appeared about the size of the moon. It was first sighted eight miles north of the town, heading south, then paused over The Dalles before heading southwest. The sighting lasted five to seven minutes in very clear conditions.
Another incident involved military observers near Manchester, New Hampshire on July 12, 1952. Major Fisher, piloting an F-47 fighter at two thousand feet, spotted a bright object at approximately five thousand feet traveling from west to east at extremely high speed. The object was visible for five to seven seconds. It was ball shaped with a short tail that broke off and burned out in two to three seconds. The main part was very bright and blue-white in color, with the tail appearing pink and blue with shades of yellow. Mobile Control Officers and tower operators at Grenier Air Force Base also witnessed the object. The Air Force evaluation for these sightings is not stated in the available file pages. The full case file is reproduced below as held by the National Archives across 23 pages.
