Brookville, OhioNovember 1957

Unidentified

Summary

On a November evening in 1957, a resident of Brookville, Ohio reported seeing a small, metallic object fall from the sky. The observer described the object as silver in color with rough edges, about the size of a quarter. According to the witness, it fell and landed roughly forty feet away.

The observer did not retrieve the object. Instead of investigating what had fallen, the witness called in a report to Air Force authorities. The case file notes that the observer was considered unreliable, in part because of the decision to phone in a UFO report rather than examine the object firsthand.

The Air Force rated this sighting as unidentified. However, the file contains little additional detail about investigation, analysis, or follow-up. The sparse documentation suggests this case never received the kind of thorough examination applied to more credible reports, and no explanation for the object appears in the available records.

The full case file, nine pages as held by the National Archives, is reproduced below.
