Project Blue Book Case File
Bowling Green, OhioNovember 1957
Summary
On November 7, 1957, an Air Force cadet driving east of Bowling Green, Ohio, reported objects in the sky around 6:00 p.m. He was driving on a highway when he saw a brilliant red flashing object that was moving. He stopped his car to watch and even got several people from a roadside station to come look.
The object was round and about the size of a pea. It gave off the most brilliant red light he had ever seen. The light pulsed like a lightning bug, starting dim and then glowing brighter, with no set time between flashes. It made no sound and showed no tail, trail, or exhaust. It had no definite flight pattern. The cadet watched the first object for about three to four minutes. He then saw similar objects again twice more the same evening while continuing his drive, including some that moved up and down and around near a turnpike plaza.
This case is part of Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports. The Air Force concluded that the description, maneuvers, and characteristics matched hundreds of similar reports of balloons observed near dawn or dusk.
