Summary

On August 24-25, 1954, multiple civilian witnesses in Bismarck, North Dakota reported seeing orange and red tracers moving across the night sky. The objects made no sound and disappeared quickly. Witnesses described them as solid. Between 10 and 12 objects were observed at different times over a period of 5 to 6 seconds each. The objects moved in various directions, initially southerly, then eastward, then back north to south. The objects were seen at approximately 2,000 feet altitude during light rain. The Air Force investigation noted that the reliability of observers was unknown. The official conclusion was that the sighting was a meteor shower.
