Summary

On February 12, 1957, between Valley Forge and Coatsville, Pennsylvania, a civilian observer reported seeing a long-shaped object about the size of a pencil held at arm's length. The object was stationary in the sky at about 5,000 feet and remained still in sight for 18 minutes while the observer was driving an automobile before disappearing. The Air Force concluded the sighting was probably caused by a balloon.
