Bethesda, MarylandNovember 1957
Summary
On November 13, 1957, around 11:35 p.m. local time, a civilian observer near Bethesda, Maryland reported a streak in the sky. The object was the length of the distance between the two pointer stars of the Big Dipper. It was greenish-reddish at the base. The sighting lasted about 5 seconds, and the movement was described as abrupt.
The witness was driving a car at the time. The sky was clear. The Air Force concluded the object was probably astronomical, most likely a meteor, based on the very limited data. This case is part of Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports.
