Summary

On February 10, 1955, at about 10 p.m., a civilian reported a saucer-shaped, glowing object near Bethesda, Maryland. He saw it while driving his car east on MacArthur Boulevard. His wife and ten-year-old son were in the car and also saw it. The night was dark and cloudy, with no moon or stars visible.

The object was about the color of the moon, a yellowish, radiant color. It had a flat top and a rounded bottom. The witness said it grew enormous in size, hundreds of yards long, at a height of about 150 feet. It stayed in place for about 30 seconds. Then the bottom seemed to take a funnel shape and the object seemed to shrink. He watched it for about one and a half to two minutes.

The witness, who had studied the stars for years, could offer no explanation and heard no engine noise. The Air Force listed the case as unidentified.
