Insufficient Data

Summary

On August 5, 1948, an irregular pilot reported a sighting between Parrott and Richland, Georgia. The witness observed a blue-white streak of light in the night sky at 7600 feet altitude. The object traveled from east to west over a duration of 5 to 10 seconds. The reported motion was ground-based auto travel. The Air Force evaluation noted the description was consistent with a disintegrating fireball, despite the observer's claim it was not a meteor or falling star. Fireballs typically bear little resemblance to ordinary meteors, and their trails can sometimes be associated with aircraft.
