Summary

On January 12, 1958, at 12:05 a.m., a civilian in Atlanta, Georgia reported observing a long, slender object resembling a telephone pole. The object was red and changed to red-orange, yellow, and greenish-yellow with sparks. It was moving downward and getting smaller over approximately two seconds. The sighting occurred one-half to one-half mile from North East Shopping Center along Buford Highway. The object was observed from the ground in clear skies with calm winds. The Air Force evaluation was Unknown.
