Summary

On May 16, 1952, at Galeao International Airport in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, a civil aviation inspector reported an unidentified object. The sighting happened about 1:30 p.m. and lasted about 10 minutes.

The witness described a single point of exceptional brightness, rounded in shape, very light blue and metallic in appearance, seen at a long distance. The object stayed in place for about 10 minutes. It then began to move very slowly from left to right in a horizontal direction.

After a long path, the object returned toward the east and disappeared at an indescribable speed. The witness reported that several other people at the airport also saw it and could not explain what it was. On the Air Force record card, the case was marked Insufficient Data for Evaluation.
