Project Blue Book Case File
ACAPULCO GUERRO MEX, July 1952July 1952
Summary
On the night of July 19, 1952, a columnist for a Mexico City newspaper reported seeing four bright unidentified objects moving across the sky above Acapulco, Guerrero. The witness, accompanied by a reporter from another newspaper, was walking on Caleta Beach when she first spotted what appeared to be a bright star traveling at high speed from north to south. The light blinked on and off at intervals of about one second. After roughly 30 seconds it vanished over the horizon. Three more objects followed at intervals of one to five minutes, each crossing the sky in different directions and lasting about 30 seconds. The witness described the paths of all four objects as though they had crossed at a common point several miles south of her location. No sound, trail, or exhaust was observed. The sighting occurred between 10:15 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. local time on July 19. The Air Force file notes that the witness appeared sincere in her account. She had previously been skeptical about flying saucer reports but said the experience convinced her there was truth to earlier accounts. The witness was reportedly somewhat anti-American, though the accompanying reporter confirmed her story in his own newspaper article. One of those reports suggested the objects were part of American operations, though the file provides no substantive explanation for what was seen.
The case file was evaluated as "unknown" by the U.S. Air Force and is reproduced below as held by the National Archives across 13 pages.
