Summary

On October 21, 1951, a report described a bright flash seen over the Atlantic in the direction of the Soviet island of Novaya Zemlya. A scientist aboard an aircraft observed a bright yellow flash on the horizon. The report was made in case the flash might have a connection to atomic activity.

The Air Force record notes the event was not reported as a flying object and that information on atomic explosion activity was not available. The case was evaluated as having insufficient data for analysis.
