Project Blue Book Case File
29 Mi W Of Crosby, N. D., September 1958September 1958
Summary
On September 7, 1958, at 7:03 a.m., a circular object about the size of a dime was sighted 29 miles west of Crosby, North Dakota. The object flashed red, green, and violet colors. It moved to the west, then gained altitude as the sun rose until it disappeared. The sighting lasted 1 hour and 30 minutes. An Intercept Controller from the 789th Air Defense Squadron noted the object appeared in the exact position of the planet Mars at the time given. The cool weather and high altitude would tend to make Mars appear to flash and change color. The Air Force concluded no possible explanation was found.
