Summary

On August 28, 1960, an observer at Zaragoza Air Base in Spain reported seeing a bright UFO. The object appeared as a white ball of light with an orange or red tinge and a short trail of sparks behind it. It traveled in a straight line with no changes in direction, heading roughly northeast, and disappeared suddenly.

The sighting lasted between five and ten seconds. An air base officer later noted that the object was definitely not a satellite and that falling stars seemed unlikely because of how bright and steady the light appeared.

The Air Force asked for more details, requesting information about where the object was positioned in the sky when first spotted and when it vanished, but the OCR text becomes largely illegible in the pages that follow, making it difficult to determine what additional observations were recorded.

The file's conclusion stated that the cause was probably a meteor. The full case file is reproduced below as held by the National Archives across 9 pages.
