Project Blue Book Case File
Virginia, August 1960August 1960
Summary
On August 13, 1960, a piece of equipment was found in Virginia and at first reported as unidentified. It was shipped to the Air Force technical center for study. The object turned out to be a water beacon, a piece of tracking equipment with a small radio transmitter in its center. The transmitter sent out a signal for tracking purposes. The equipment was found to belong to a corporation, which asked that it be returned. When the company's representative came to Dayton, the equipment was turned over to him. The Air Force concluded the case was not a flying object but identified equipment.
