Project Blue Book Case File
Tel Aviv, Israel, July 1960July 1960
Summary
On July 2, 1960, a U.S. Naval Attache and his wife saw a bright light in the sky over Tel Aviv, Israel, at about 8:25 p.m. local time. There was little or no apparent motion. The light seemed to glow and grow larger. There was no sound. The witness thought it might be an aircraft on fire and checked with a nearby airport, but got negative replies. The report suggested it could be a satellite reentry. The Air Force noted the duration was not given, so a firm conclusion could not be drawn. It found a meteor sighting more likely, while noting a balloon or the star Spica could not be fully ruled out. The card concluded there was insufficient data.
