Project Blue Book Case File
St. Louis, MissouriSeptember 1957
Summary
On September 17, 1957, at about 1100 (11:00 a.m.) central time in St. Louis, Missouri, a civilian graduate student saw one disc-shaped object. It was metallic gray and estimated at 100 yards across. The object first moved nearly parallel to the horizon, then made a circle and a slight turn toward the south before it disappeared. The total sighting lasted about 7 to 10 seconds. The witness said the sound resembled a diesel engine in the distance. The Air Force noted the object might have been a jet taking off from Lambert Field. Because of the short duration, the record card lists the conclusion as insufficient data for evaluation.
