# Summary

In April 1960, a civilian observer near Roswell, New Mexico witnessed an unusual object in the sky for about three seconds. The object appeared two to three times brighter than Venus and displayed a greenish-white color. It had a tail like a comet and moved straight downward at a rate slower than a typical meteor. The witness reported that the object caused radio interference.

The Air Force investigator noted in the case file comments that while a satellite reentry was initially considered, the duration of the sighting and the greenish color did not match typical satellite decay patterns. The investigator concluded it was probable that the object observed was a meteor. The file evaluation was listed as unknown.

The full case file is reproduced below as held by the National Archives, comprising 7 pages of scanned documents.
