Summary

In late January 1955, an observer near San Mateo, Florida, reported a bright object in the sky. The witness said it looked like a burning, meteor-like object. It flashed across the sky from west to east at a low height.

The report came to the Air Force as a crude sketch with very little detail. It was first sent to the 1360th AB Group at Orlando Air Force Base and later passed to higher headquarters.

The Air Force said there was not enough information for a proper evaluation. The case was filed under Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports, with insufficient data for evaluation.
