Summary

On March 24 and 25, 1950, people in the Santiago area of Chile, including San Bernardo and Valparaiso, reported a flying disc. The description matched earlier reports being quoted in the local press: a high, silver, ping-pong ball shaped object. The report was sent by the U.S. Air Attache in Chile and was drawn from newspaper reports.

The attache's summary noted that an earlier Chilean sighting had been explained by the Director of the University of Chile observatory as the planet Venus, clearly visible that time of year. The summary gave little detail for the March 24 and 25 sightings beyond the usual public description.

The Air Force record (Project 10073, its official file for unidentified flying object reports) concluded there was insufficient data for evaluation, noting the report came only from the local newspaper.
