Project Blue Book Case File
Rome, Ga., November 1950November 1950
Summary
In November 1950, in Rome, Georgia, five people reported seeing two strange discs about 2:30 p.m. The report is part of Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports. The source was a newspaper article.
The witnesses included an airport manager and a U.S. weather observer. They said they plainly saw the discs at the same time an Air Force AT-6 training plane buzzed the local runway. The discs were in sight for several minutes before they disappeared, one to the north and one to the northeast. One disc dropped toward the field and then climbed away. The group said the objects' altitude and size were impossible to estimate. Eastern Air Lines planes were alerted to watch for them.
The report is marked unevaluated.
