Summary

On a night in 1959 near Rockville, an object was reported by a family. A son first saw the object and then called his father and mother. The sighting was reported through the Air Force's unidentified flying object record system.

The object was about the size of a jet aircraft, with one object seen. It looked like a missile with a trail of flame about 25 to 50 yards long and moved very fast. At first the witness thought it was a comet. It was at about 45 to 50 degrees elevation and moved on a straight, flat course before going out of sight.

The record card did not list a clear stated cause for the sighting.
