Summary

On October 26, 1952, a civilian couple in a car saw a bright object near Roanoke, Texas, on U.S. Highway 77, about 18 miles north of Fort Worth. The driver's wife pointed it out and asked what it was. The time was about 4:18 p.m.

The object looked cigar shaped and very brilliant, with a blue color. The witnesses said it was about two thirds the width of the moon. They believed it was about 3 miles away. It first appeared low above the horizon.

The object traveled straight up, then turned and moved south, losing some altitude before heading southeast. It was in sight for about 3 minutes before it went out of view. An Army intelligence officer checked with a nearby airfield and a flight service, with no matching aircraft found.

The Air Force record card lists the conclusion as probably aircraft.
