Summary
On November 10, 1957, a military observer near Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina reported a round object about five times the magnitude of a star. The sighting lasted about 15 minutes. The object was very bright and alternated between orange, red, and white. It moved up and down and sideways before it gradually faded.
The Air Force concluded the object was astronomical and identified it as Venus. This case is part of Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports.
