Puebloe, ColoradoDecember 1955

Unidentified

Summary

On December 1, 1955, near Pueblo, Colorado, a man and his wife saw a strange object while driving about 29 miles south of Pueblo. The time was about 1500 (3:00 p.m.). There were no clouds in the sky.

The witness said his attention was drawn by what looked like a vapor trail. The object was white, shaped roughly like a cigarette, and appeared to glow at the top. He watched it for about 20 minutes. He said its movement was too slow for a jet and that the object finally disappeared over a mountain.

The case is filed under Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports. The record card noted it could be a possible contrail from a high flying aircraft. The Air Force did not list a firm conclusion box, and an attached agency review treated the matter as a possible contrail sighting.
