Summary
On the nights of September 1, 2, and 3, 1956, observers near Peyton, Colorado reported lights in the sky starting around 7 p.m. local time. Watchers used binoculars and saw the objects as red and round. The objects moved slowly across the sky over a span of hours and dropped behind a mountain or below the horizon.
The report was filed under Project 10073, the Air Force's official record for unidentified flying object reports. An officer viewed the objects on the night of the 6th. He concluded they were astronomical. He identified one as the planet Saturn and the others as the stars Arcturus and Capella. The Air Force conclusion was astronomical.
