Summary

On July 23, 1956, two round objects smaller than a star were reported in Pensacola, Florida. The objects appeared as a constant yellow-orange glow. They were close together for about five minutes, then separated, with one moving much faster than the other. When first noticed, the objects were 15 degrees above the horizon. They were observed visually for about ten minutes and disappeared in the south. After one climbed to a higher altitude, it lowered out. A preliminary report of the sighting was received by the 1st Air Force Command Center on July 23. An investigation was conducted at 1,000 feet involving KB-50 and KB-100s landing. Search lights kept on continuous watch. Fighter planes at times refused landing, departing, and returning reportedly with changes in winds. The Air Force evaluation is listed as unknown.
